Maserati is a high end luxury car manufacturer based out of Italy. Founded in 1914 Maserati has a strong history in racing and sports car development. Maserati has changed hands several times over the years. It was founded by the six Maserati Brothers and in 1937 was sold to the Adolfo Orsi family. In 1968 Citroen took over Maserati and in the early 1990's Chrysler bought a part of them. In 1993 Fiat purchased majority shares and brought a lot of life back to the company then in 1997 Fiat sold a 50% stake in the company to Ferrari. Ferrari took the reigns in 1999 and then in 2005 Maserati was split from Ferrari and merged with Alfa Romeo back unter Fiat Auto. To this day Maserati continues to produce very high quality vehicles with their best selling model the Maserati Quattroporte.
